Atlas Copco has recently supplied the world's largest mobile grouting unit to Veidekke in Sweden. The Unigrout grouting rig will be working in the new Norra länken tunnelling project in Stockholm.

The Unigrout combines the most advanced technology in mixing, pumping and recording of grouting treatment. The main area of usage is tunnelling, where leakage and influx of water may be a problem, or where the ground water level is not allowed to vary. In Stockholm, at the Norra Länken project (North link road and tunnelling project) the Norwegian contractor Veidekke is currently working with the largest mobile grouting unit ever built by Atlas Copco - a truck mounted Unigrout.

The Unigrout is virtually an automated mobile grouting plant, which offers high capacity with up to 10 m3 of grout being produced per hour. The advanced control system provides high flexibility and high efficiency in grouting operations, to enable onsite mixing of a range of grouts to match the conditions dictated by the formation and project at each section. As rock conditions alter, the mixture can be changed by the press of a button, and the time of the operation is substantially reduced.

Reliability is also a crucial factor for customers, when choosing system.

''We are losing money if the equipment doesn't work'', explains Konstantin Spinos, a Contract Manager for Tunnelling, at Veidekke in Stockholm, ''So we are depending on the equipment efficiency and reliability.''

The Unigrout operated by Veidekke is probably the largest standard grouting platform in the world. It is fully automatic, and only two operators are needed to operate this high capacity unit throughout the entire procedure from mixing, pumping and recording to distributing the grout into the holes.

Atlas Copco has produced grouting equipment since 1921, and has an experience of more than 15 years of the design and manufacturing of automatic and mobile grouting units.
